Goidell's savvy play in 2OT lifts Harborfields

Kim Goidell had a hand in No. 1 Harborfields' final two scoring plays yesterday, feeding Dominique Hendrickson with less than a minute to play in the second overtime to give her team a one-point lead and adding two free throws with 5.7 seconds remaining as the host Tornadoes survived a scare and defeated No. 5 Sayville, 45-42, in the semifinals of the Suffolk Class A girls basketball playoffs.

"It was a very physical game," Harborfields coach Russ Tietjen said.

Hendrickson finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Tornadoes (19-2), who beat Sayville (13-8) for the third time this year.

Sayville's Emily Paul (18 points) scored her team's only points of the first overtime on a reverse layup at the buzzer to tie the score at 40 .

Harborfields will meet No. 3 Huntington in the final Friday night at 6:30 at St. Joseph's College.
